Women Programme

The Oman Sail Women’s Sailing Programme was launched in 2011 to create equal opportunities in the sport of sailing and create the foundations for the first all-female sailing team in the Gulf region.

More than Omani 150 women applied for the first year of the programme, with 30 chosen to form the inaugural group. Within a year 21 were awarded World Sailing accredited sailing instructor certificates, an exceptional achievement.

The Women’s Sailing Programme has now become a template for other organisations in Oman and across the Arab world to create opportunities for women, leading to much wider socio-economic benefits for all.
